Every Journey invariably starts with a single step and the Journey to scale great heights needs unflinching grit and relentless efforts. With the same determination we had embarked on a Journey in 2006 by setting up Commerce Department with two courses of one section each i.e. B.Com (Computer Application) and B.Com (Finance and Taxation). M. Com introduced in the year 2009.

The Commerce department is the largest department of the College with annual average student strength of 300.

The department has adequate well qualified, competent faculty who are dedicated to the academic and overall development of the student community. The teaching highlights of the faculty of our department are Learner- centric, ICT enabled, Project based, continuous assessment and comprehensive & realistic evaluation.

Our aim is to form young Men and Women of Competence, Commitment, Conscience and Compassion.

We cultivate in students an uncompromising commitment towards enhancing the quality of life both at the organizational and societal level and also fostering passionate pursuit for academic and intellectual excellence.

With a vision of value oriented and outcome based system we provides National level paper presentations, workshops, counselling programs, Career enrichment programmes, on the job training, research oriented project works, Scholarly Lectureship Series, Industrial visits, Orientation for competitive exams, etc.

Achievements

The department is maintaining a very good academic results in the University examination. Every year students score top in the university exam. Seven ranks, including Second rank in M.Com in the year 2017, First Rank in B.Com Computer Application in the year 2018, Fifth rank in M.Com in the year 2018 has been achieved till date.

Our students got placed in various corporate giants like KPMG, Infosys, Nationalised banks, Private sector Banks, etc.

Best Practices

FDP’s: Faculty Development Programs is an initiative by the Department in enhancing the knowledge and upgrading the teachers to the new developments in industry, so as to lead the students in a competency based education.

Peer Teaching: An initiative to enhance the students confidence, content knowledge, academic skills and social exposure.

Paper Presentations: With an aim to improve the presentation skills, communication skills, in-depth knowledge in various current subject related topics, research oriented education and to explore the hidden talents we are organising a national level paper presentation “EMPORIO” since 2013.

Professional Support Forum: With a motive to make our students professionally competent we provides various add on courses and orientation programmes. As a result our students got placed in various MNC’s, Nationalised and Private sector banks etc. Lot of our students are pursuing professional courses like CA, CS, CMA, ACCA. And so many successful entrepreneurs are also incubated.

Mentorship Programme: With an objective of enabling constructive and positive interaction, guidance and mentorship to our students.
